A special meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on Saturday, March 4, 2006, in the Village Hall. Mayor Maedl opened the meeting at 8:40 a.m. Also present were Deputy Mayor Conley, Trustee Bateman, Trustee Herriven, Trustee Shuttleworth, DPW Superintendent Mahar, Police Chief Swick, and Clerk-Treasurer Schweigert. Attorney Daniel E. Seaman’s presence was not necessary. A motion was made by Trustee Bateman, and seconded by Trustee Herriven, to move into executive session for the purposes of discussing matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation. Carried. Mayor Maedl opened the executive session at 8:40 a.m. A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Conley, and seconded by Trustee Bateman, to move back into general session. Carried. Mayor Maedl reconvened general session at 9:50 a.m. A news release will be sent to the newspaper that DPW Superintendent Mahar has announced his retirement in the summer of 2006. A motion was made by Trustee Bateman, and seconded by Deputy Mayor Conley, to advertise the opening for a Public Works Superintendent in the following newspapers: The Lockport Journal, the Medina Journal Register, the Niagara Gazette, the Buffalo News, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, and the Batavia News. Carried. Mayor Maedl went over the preliminary figures with the Board that ClerkTreasurer Schweigert, DPW Superintendent Mahar, Police Chief Swick, and she had determined for the 2006-2007 Village budget. Discussed line items and reasons for increases and decreases. Police Chief Swick advised the Board that his department will need to purchase a new vehicle this year, based on the current policy to purchase one every other year. Discussion ensued regarding this. Contract for traffic control coverage with Town of Royalton expires this year. The Village must get together with Town representatives to discuss and renew this. Discussed use of the Scout House while going over revenues. A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Conley, and seconded by Trustee Bateman to make the following changes for the use of the Scout House: X Increase the rental fee for the Pavilion to $25 per use X Increase the rental fee for Village residents for the Scout House to $75 per use X Allow non-residents use of the Scout House at a cost of $150 per use Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Bateman, and seconded by Deputy Mayor Conley, to hold an additional budget meeting on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 8:30 a.m. in the Village Hall. Carried. Paper will be notified. A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Conley, and seconded by Trustee Shuttleworth, to adjourn. Carried. Meeting adjourned at 12:05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Rebecca A.
